Upon the revelation that Jack Osborne (chubby, specky, hamster faced ball of guff) managed to pull Paris Hilton (annoying, self-obsessed and selfish but undeniably sexy) MioBlog decided to look back on the men who really have punched above their weight. Rather than mock these hardy souls, I say we applaud them. Because yes, God loves a trier.

1. Hugh Hefner Countless arrays of consistently beautiful women. What makes the Hefner the daddy of all wide-boys is the fact that he lives in a dream world where every single woman he meets or talks to is amazingly stunning. All so they can get a chance to show off their qualities in his magazine. Wide-boy rating 11/10

2. Chris Evans - Billie Piper. One of the original wide-boys. He wooed Billie by gifting her a big yellow Lamborghini, even though she couldnt drive. He was ginger, he wore glasses and he had loads of money and he was twice her age. The perfect package for a seventeen year old girl? Three out of that four and youve got Mick Hucknall again Wide-boy rating 10/10

3. Mick Hucknall - Catherine Zeta Jones Out of all the wide-boys on show here, much grudging kudos has to go to one of Gods lesser looking children, Sir Mick of Hucknall. He represents the best mate you have that never seems to get a girlfriend then one day BAM! He pulls this one out of the bag. She later went on to pull what looks like a Granddad (Or Michael Douglas as people like to call him). Wide-boy rating 9/10

4. Sven Goran Eriksson - Ulrika Johnsson. Ulrika, desperate for some Swedish loving, saved on the flight fare home and plumped for the first one she could find, even if he does look like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons. Wide-boy rating 8/10

5. Flavio Briatore - Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, and is engaged to 26 year old wonder bra model Elisabetta Gregoraci. Formula 1 wide-boy Flavio still somehow manages to lure a stunning array of beautiful women despite being older than the Queen (well, we think so anyway). Wide-boy rating 8/10

6. K-Fed Britney Spears. Backwards wide-boy K-Fed delighted us all by pursuing a gloriously awful rap career, placing him right up there with Vanilla Ice in the crap-rap stakes. Britney lost the plot a wee bit recently but one can only assume it was after K-Fed tried to woo her back with one of his songs. Wide-boy rating 7/10

7. Billy Bob Thornton - Angelina Jolie. Marketed themselves as a couple of weirdos who kept vials of each others blood around their necks. Jolie is now with one of the worlds most handsome men. Billy Bob has sagging bits all over. Wheres the blood you ask? Wide-boy rating 6/10

8. Martin Fowler in Eastenders Kara Tointon (Dawn). Im sorry but in soapland Martin Fowler was coupled up with Sonia. Then in real life he cops off with officially the sexiest girl in soapland (according to national soap awards). How can this be? Wide-boy rating 5/10

9. Billy Zane - Kelly Brook. Wide-boy Billy famously shaved off all his hair because he was scared of becoming bald. Because he didnt have any proper friends to tell him that shaving off all your hair makes you bald anyway, Kelly took pity on him and became his girlfriend. Im now thinking of shaving my hair off Wide-boy rating 3/10

10. Pete Doherty - Kate Moss. Oh dear. Not even a small ripple of applause for Pete here as Moss continues to attempt career suicide but consistently comes up smelling ofyes, you guessed itroses. Wide-boy rating 1/10
