Juicer Recipes for the Menopause

Juicing has long been recognised as a healthy way of extracting vitamins, minerals and live enzymes from the foods we eat. These nutrients allow the body to function, to repair and to build a healthy immune system.

Soak herbs in hot water for 15 minutes and blend the resulting 'juice' with fruit juice. Try grinding seeds to a fine powder in a coffee grinder or spice mill to ensure the nutrients can be extracted during the digestive process.

Think of the 'cooling' fruits such as apple, celery, fennel and cucumber; these combined make an energy boosting drink that cleanses and cools. It truly uplifts the spirits that are flagging through menopausal mood swings. Add some fresh rosemary which is noted for it's uplifting properties or perhaps some valerian to soothe and calm and you have an ideal pick-me-up.

Any problems with the urinary tract can be treated with cranberry, watermelon, cucumber, fenugreek, celery and dandelion root. In fact select your favourites from the list and use regularly for any water related problems from cystitis to oedema.

So often we women simply tolerate what is happening to our bodies. We shrug, raise our eyebrows and accept that 'it's our age'. Well, with the magazines now telling us that 50 is the new 30, the time for tolerating is long gone and we need to get pro-active; to explore alternatives which, whilst they will not stop a natural process, can make the business of menopause more bearable.
