If youve always fancied yourself as the next Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho, maybe youre already involved in playing or coaching football. Maybe youre considering football as a good way of keeping fit, and want to know more about tactics and techniques. Perhaps coaching your childs school team isnt as easy as you thought, or maybe you just want to improve your own playing skills. Whatever the reason, there are many ways of learning how to play soccer, and becoming a better player or coach.

Summer soccer coaching courses in the UK are usually intensive and over a week or longer, and are often run by football clubs. Sometimes the course is staffed by former players, or players coming through the ranks and current players may make a guest appearance. Skills covered range from goalkeeping to shooting, and utilise soccer drills and other coaching methods. Soccer coaching courses can be expensive especially for a family with more than one football playing child and the best ones may not always be local.

Watching a lot of football, and hopefully picking up some skills from favourite players is useful, but not the same as learning how to play soccer from a professional qualified soccer coach. Imagine thinking you could learn to drive by watching a Grand Prix, or that you could learn to be a doctor by watching a TV medical drama.

Learning from books written by players or managers is another way of learning the necessary skills and techniques, but are not always practical on a soccer pitch. It is difficult, however, for a team to sit round a book to learn a technique for example. Providing a book for each player could prove to be expensive, and may not be the best use of resources.

Using videos can be very effective to analyse all aspects of a match, including evaluating previous performances, identifying potential transfer targets, working out the best tactics and which techniques to work on. Videos can also be used to assess the strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams, and can even be more valuable that a scouts report. Videos can be shown in a classroom environment so that the whole team can watch and learn. Being able to watch the video again and again, and watch it in slow motion can also be beneficial. The coach or individual players can watch the video independently, and see which areas could be improved.

Websites can combine video, text and images making it ideal for sports and academic learning. There are many online resources aimed at coaching football, and so finding the best one to meet your needs can be daunting. The level of the coach and/or players should be the main deciding factor. A site aimed at people who have no soccer coaching or playing experience will probably not be suitable for a professional club looking to prevent injuries or improve the mental performance of a player. All sorts of lessons can be found within these types of websites, including training plans for children of different ages, soccer drills, how to treat common injuries and much much more. As the player progresses, the techniques become more difficult, and the fitness and stamina will improve.

These types of soccer coaching websites provide a great deal of information and resources, and some sites are endorsed by a well known former player or manager. Learning how to play soccer from a professional coach or player, and being able to see techniques performed properly in real time by professionals, as well as explained in great detail by qualified coaches was previously only available via coaching courses. Now online soccer coaching is becoming popular, it can be invaluable, especially to younger players, who may learn better from watching than by reading. Football coaching websites may also offer help with working towards recognised professional football coaching qualifications As well as techniques and tactics, these websites may cover fitness training, recovering from injury, and sports psychology.

Whilst traditional methods of learning and coaching are still very popular, the rise of the soccer coaching website means that people all over the world now have access to the best coaches, football coaching methods and information, at any time. Get Your Asthma Under Control

INTRODUCTION In 1991 the National Institutes of Health (NIH) first released their expert guidelines for asthma care. Few physicians properly follow these guidelines (or their updates) in fact even many "asthma specialists" do a less than perfect job of delivering appropriate care to control asthma. In a family care setting the situation usually becomes even worse. This might be due to a number of factors, the physician: may not know the guidelines, may not understand the guidelines or may feel the guidelines do not apply to their patients. Problems with asthma control result in over one million U.S. emergency room visits every year and the situation is not improving!

THE PROBLEM Appropriate asthma management involves a number of components primarily: preventing/controlling airway inflammation and preventing/controlling airway constriction. Historically only the second component was considered but since 1991 it has been well documented that controlling the inflammation within the respiratory system is equally important in slowing the progression of the disease. In fact, the idea of asthma causing progressive changes to the lungs known as airway remodeling is foreign to many physicians.

GET INVOLVED Although short acting inhalers such as albuterol are needed by all levels of asthma patients for occasional symptomatic relief, patients that are only being treated with an albuterol inhaler probably are not receiving adequate therapy, an exception to this might be exercise induced asthma that often can be controlled with a short acting inhaler. The concept of "no wheeze means no disease" needs to be discarded once and for all! There are a variety of medications that can be used in many combinations for asthma control. A physician properly following the guidelines will be able to correctly identify the appropriate combination of asthma medications for you or your family member. Medications may need to be both increased and decreased over time to maximize asthma control and minimize side effects. Drug therapy for asthma is definitely not 'one size fits all' in fact it needs to be very specifically tailored to your specific condition at any given time. There may not be just one correct therapy choice for you but on the other hand there are certainly a lot of wrong choices that your health care provider can make. Learn as much as you can about what is currently considered 'state of the art' asthma care and don't be afraid to share what you learn with your physician. Be your own health advocate silence can cost you your health! You have nothing to lose and much to gain be becoming involved in your own care plan. Knowledge is power!

PEAK FLOW METERS Every asthmatic should have and know how to properly use a peak flow meter. Peak flow meters are very much underused! Changes in the results when using a peak flow meter can occur many days prior to a patient being able to detect a worsening condition thereby allowing time to adjust the therapy to possibly prevent an exacerbation or attack. You may be able to set up a program with your physician whereby you will adjust your medications based on peak flow reading and even begin a short course of steroids such as prednisone if the readings warrant this (you would report starting the medication to your doctor but you would not wait for the physicians ok before beginning it- thereby saving precious time in getting your attack under control). One problem that we have seen with peak flow meter training is very simple but critical: you must be standing (unless unable) to properly do the test. A peak flow reading taken while seated is going to be inaccurate!

Sexual Variety Without Panic

As a sex coach, one of the biggest misconceptions people come to me with is that, if they just change what they do sexually, they will feel better, be a better lover and their sex life will be transformed. Much of my work as a sex coach involves helping my clients get in touch with their sexual being - who are they? - rather than what they do sexually. However, exploring your current choices and behaviours at each level - being and doing - is a successful strategy, when both are addressed together as part of exploring an individual's sexual style and attitudes.

Many people feel that they would like to be able to widen their sexual options when it comes to what to DO during sex but they worry that sexual variety means a risk of something not working. The fear of failure actually prevents many people from experimenting with their sexual repertoire. Do not panic! Most sexual positions are really small variations of quite familiar positions. Slight and subtle changes in body angles, depth of penetration are what make the difference.

However to really add sexual variety to your sex life, you can change more than what you do sexually. Changing the position, the context, the routine, the props and your attitude can help you build up the confidence to be and feel different about who you are sexually and enable you to explore more of who you can be and what you could do.

Below are 5 suggestions about how to widen your repertoire without it seeming like en effort. There is nothing too complex and no intricate maneuverer to remember. It is more a reminder that it is not difficult to add variety to your sex life without panicking.

THE POSITION: THE SPLIT LEVEL is a variation of the missionary position and it is very simple. What's good about it is that it allows you both to play with different angles and depths of penetration. All you need to do is for the woman to slide down the bed so her bottom is just on the bed. The man stands or kneels in front of her and, when inside her, he can adjust the angle of her pelvis to explore how it feels for both of you when the penis is stimulating different areas of the vagina. In order to make use of the opportunity for more flexibility of penetration, he should not lean his full weight on top of her, but try to keep upright. Depending on your heights and the height of your bed, you will need to experiment with cushions/pillows under the woman to make penetration possible.

THE ATTITUDE: TO KNOW YOUR DESIRES means that you can choose to enter into a sexual encounter with a definite intention, one that makes you feel powerful, giving and playful (or however it is you want to feel specifically). Know that sex is not your enemy. You do not have to 'get it right' all the time or pass a test. All you need to do is turn up and be open to creating and communicating the kind of sexual experience that you want to have.

THE CONTEXT: BE SPONTANEOUS when it feels right. Instead of racking your brains to come up with a new position or technique, why not focus more on the context of your sexual encounters and do something that you know you really love but in an unusual context. This could be in a different room, in a different place (in/outdoors) or at a different time of day/night. The important thing is to act on your desires and ensure that you are having sex at a time when you really want to have it.

THE ROUTINE: CHANGE THE ORDER OF WHAT YOU DO can really help because it is easy to get stuck in a familiar pattern of sexual activity that becomes tired, irritating and automatic. Instead of making everything about penetration, why not focus on giving each other some intense and teasing oral sex in between. Get some lube out and really focus on giving and receiving different sexual sensations.

THE PROP: MIRROR MIRROR on the wall or in your hand. This may not appeal to everyone but some people will really get off on watching themselves and their partner. Why? Because some people respond very intensely to the exhibitionist/voyeuristic dynamic. Also, although it might seem like the worst thing to do if you have concerns about your body, if you only do it when you are extremely aroused, you may begin to recognise that feeling intense sexual desire tends to make negative scrutiny and judgment irrelevant.

When you feel that something is wrong with your sex life, typically your anxiety increases and your confidence plummets. You become less willing to experiment with trying something different because sexual 'failure' feels like a disaster, something that could not be coped with. I hope that this short article helps you to recognise that making consistent changes to your sex life involves more than learning a new technique. Challenging your own attitudes is key and realising that sexual 'failure' is impossible when you are playing and not performing at sex.
